ĭālўsus-ĭālўsus or os-os, i, m., = Ἰάλυσος. A son of the fourth Sol, acc. to Cic. N. D. 3, 21, 54; a famous picture of him by Protogenes, at Rhodes, afterwards in Rome, Cic. Verr. 2, 4, 60, § 135; id. Or. 2, 5; Plin. 35, 10, 36, § 102; Gell. 15, 31, 3.— f., an ancient city of Rhodes, now the village of Ialiso, Mel. 2, 7, 4; Plin. 5, 31, 35, § 132.— Hence, Deriv. ĭālўsĭus, a, um, adj., of lalysus: Telchines, Ov. M. 7, 365.
