fūmo, āre, v. n. fumus, to smoke, steam, reek, fume. Lit. (class.): acri sulphure montes Oppleti calidis ubi fumant fontibus aucti, Lucr. 6, 748: late circum loca sulphure fumant, Verg. A. 2, 698: recenti fossione terram fumare calentem, Cic. N. D. 2, 9, 25: est animadversum, fumare aggerem, quem cuniculo hostes succenderant, Caes. B.
