Agrippīna, ae, f., the name of several Roman women. The wife of the emperor Tiberius, granddaughter of Atticus, Suet. Tib. 7.— A daughter of Vipsanius Agrippa and Julia, granddaughter of Augustus, wife of Germanicus, and mother of the emperor Caligula, Tac. A. 2, 54.— Daughter of the preced. and Germanicus, wife of Cn. Domitius Aënobarbus, and mother of the emperor Nero, Tac. A. 4, 75. From her a colony planted on the Rhine received the name Colonia Agrippina, Tac. A. 12, 27, or Agrippinensis, id. H. 1, 57; 4, 55 (now Cologne); and its inhabitants were called Agrippinenses, id. G. 28.
