Ăgăthō^cles, is, m., = Ἀγαθοκλῆς. A king of Sicily, son of a potter, celebrated for his war with the Carthaginians for the possession of the island; cf. Cic. Verr. 2, 4, 55; Val. Max. 7, 4, 1 ext.; and esp. Just. 22, 1 sq.—Hence, ăgăthō^clēus, a, um, adj., = Ἀγαθόκλειος, of or pertaining to King Agathocles: tropaea, Sil. 14, 652.— The author of a history of Cyzicus, Cic. Div. 1, 24.
