G. 7, 25: vicum, Liv. 10, 4; cf.: agros vicosque (with depopulari), id. 39, 2: partem Circi, Tac. A. 6, 45: montem Caelium, id. ib. 4, 64: frumenta, id. 40, 41 et saep.— Transf., of cold, to destroy (cf.: aduro, amburo, and Gr. καίειν): hiems arbores deusserat, Liv. 40, 45; cf. Curt. 8, 9, 12. And of destruction by a serpent's breath, Sen. Clem. 1, 25, 4.
