Eng. crow in sense crow-bar and in the (now obsolete) sense door-knocker.] 1 Some kind of sea-bird, commonly translated sea-crow : κορῶναι εἰνάλιαι Od. 5.66. Cf. Od. 12.418= Od. 14.308. 2 A tip at one end of a bow with a notch to receive the loop of the string : χρυσέην ἐπέθηκε [τόξῳ] κορώνην Il. 4.111. 3 A curved projection on a door serving as a handle and as a means of securing the end of the bolt-strap : θύρην ἐπέρυσσε κορώνῃ Od. 1.441, ἱμάντʼ ἀπέλυσε κορώνης Od. 21.46.
