  "definition": "ἐφορμάω [ἐφ-, ἐπι- 5 11.] 1 To stir to action, put in action, stir up, against. With dat.: οἵ μοι ἐφώρμησαν πόλεμον Il. 3.165. Cf. Od. 7.272. 2 In mid. and pass. a To be stirred, stir oneself, to hostile action, to rush with hostile intent, make attack, in a specified or indicated direction: πάντες ἐφορμηθέντες Il. 6.410. Cf. Il. 16.313, Il. 17.465, 489, Il. 18.282, Il. 20.461, Il. 24.800: Od. 12.122. Of the gadfly Od. 22.300. b To pounce upon, attack. With acc.: ὥς τʼ ὀρνίθων αἰετὸς ἔθνος ἐφορμᾶται Il. 15.691. c To rush in an indicated direction for an indicated purpose: τρὶς ἐφορμήθην Od. 11.206. d With infin., to be disposed, have in mind, intend, to do: ποιησέμεν Od. 21.399.
