γλωχίς -ῖνος [cf. τανυγλώχις.] App., a tongue forming one of the ends of the ζυγόδεσμον or yoke-fastening, the ζ. being wound round the pole criss-cross, keeping the portion with the tongue the longer, and the tongue being tucked in under its portion after that portion had been wound over, and had so secured, the end of the other and shorter portion: ὑπὸ γλωχῖνα δʼ ἔκαμψαν Il. 24.274 (ὑπό advbl.).
