Φιλοκτήτης
Φιλοκτήτης (ἀγλαός, ἄναξ, τόξων ἐῢ εἰδώς). Son of Poeas (see Ποιάντιος). Leader of the men of Methone, etc., but left at Lemnos suffering from the bite of a water-snake and his place taken by Medon-1 Il. 2.718, the Greeks destined to bring him to Troy to their aid 725: his safe return from Troy Od. 3.190; his skill in archery Od. 8.219.
