Πάρις
Πάρις often called Ἀλέξανδρος (βασιλεύς, δῖος, θεοειδής). Son of Priam and Hecabe. Carried off Helen from Menelaus and was her husband at Troy. Appears in the front of the Trojans Il. 3.16, but retires before Menelaus 30, reproached by Hector 38 , his duel with Menelaus 340, he is snatched away by Aphrodite and set down in his chamber 380, Helen comes to him 421 ; Hector comes to urge him to the field Il. 6.321, he goes 503, and joins Η. 514, kills Menesthius-1 Il. 7.8; in the assembly refuses to give up Helen Il. 7.355; wounds Diomedes with an arrow Il. 11.369, wounds Machaon with an arrow 505, wounds Eurypylus-2 with an arrow 581; kills Euchenor Il. 13.660, kills Deiochus Il. 15.341; Hector prophesies death to Achilles at the hands of Paris and Apollo Il. 22.359; how he flouted the goddesses Il. 24.28: etc.
