-ῆρος, ὁ [κεράννυμι, mix; bor., Eng. crater], large bowl, used by the Greeks for mixing water with wine, which they never drank clear. See Fig. 69, p. 207. κράτιστος, -η, -ον [κράτος] (used as sup. of ἀγαθός, really sup. of old adj. κρατύς, strong), best, strongest, bravest, noblest. Neut. acc. pl. as adv., best, most bravely.
