ὦνος
-ου, ὁ. (ϝῶνος. Cf. L. nenum.)
That which is given or paid as an equivalent, a price: ὦνον ἔδωκεν Il. 21.41, υἷος Πριάμοιο ὦνον ἔδωκε [κρητῆρα] (as the ransom for him; referring to the same transaction) Il. 23.746 : ἐπείγετʼ ὦνον ὁδαίων (i.e. your buying, your bargaining) Od. 15.445. Cf. Od. 14.297, Od. 15.388 = 429, 452, 463.
