μέλας δ’ elision at end of v. is peculiar in Trag. to Soph., who is said to have adopted it from a poet Callias (Athen. 10 p. 453 E): hence it was called εἶδος Σοφόκλειον. Examples: δ’ 785, 791, 1224; Soph. OC 17;Soph. Ant. 1031;Soph. El. 1017:τ’ below, 1184: ταῦτ’ 332. [;In Soph. OC 1164 μολόντ’ should prob. be μόνον.]; In Comedy: δ’ Eur. Hipp. 1716 ,Aristoph. Eccl. 351: μ’ Aristoph. Frogs 298 .
