κόσμος -ου, ὁ. 1 An ornament or adornment : κ. ἵππῳ Il. 4.145. Array, dress : ἐπεὶ πάντα περὶ χροῒ θήκατο κόσμον Il. 14.187. 2 Preparation, contrivance : ἵππου κόσμον ἄεισον (i.e. tell of the stratagem) Od. 8.492. 3 Order, due order : κατὰ κόσμον, in order, duly, as one would have a thing done, arightIl. 10.472, Il. 11.48=Il. 12.85, Il. 24.622: Od. 8.489, Od. 14.363.
