ἤδη [ἦ2 δή.] 1 Previously to some specified or indicated time, by or before this (or that) time, by now, now, already, ere this: ἤδη οἱ ἐφῆκα βέλος Il. 5.188. Cf. σάος

σάος σόος -η, -ον, σῶς (the first only in comp. σαώτερος Il. 1.32). 1 Free from harm, safe, unharmed, unhurt, safe and sound, in good case : σαώτερος ὥς κε νέηαι (the safer) Il. 1.32, λαὸν σῶν ἔμμεναι 117. Cf. Il. 5.531= Il. 15.563 (find safety), Il. 7.310, Il. 8.246, Il. 15.497, Il. 16.252 : Od. 4.98, Od. 15.42, Od. 16.131, Od. 19.300. Of things, safe, unharmed, whole, intact : οὔτʼ ἠέλιον σῶν ἔμμεναι οὔτε σελήνην Il. 17.367. 2 Free from danger, in safety, safe, not liable to be harmed : ὅππως σόοι μαχέοιντο (i.e. with the least risk possible) Il. 1.344.
