ἐπιπταίρω

sneeze at, υἱός μοι ἐπέπταρε πᾶσιν ἔπεσσιν he sneezed as I spoke the words (a good omen), Od. 17.545, cf. h.Merc. 297, Nonn. D. 7.107: metaph., to be gracious to, favour, Ἔρωτές τινι ἐπέπταρον Theoc. 7.96; ἀγαθός τις ἐ. ἐρχομένῳ Id. 18.16.
