ἔκπαγλος

ἔκπαγλος -ον [perh. for ἔκ-πλαγ-λος, fr. ἐκ- 9 + πλαγ-, πλήσσω.] In some way striking or remarkable. 1 Of persons Il. 21.452 (extraordinarily violent or unreasonable), 589 (wonderful, great). In superl. Il. 1.146 and Il. 20.389 (most wonderful (derisively)), Il. 18.170 (app., incredibly remiss). 2 Of words, etc., violent, vehement: ἐπέεσσιν Il. 15.198: Od. 8.77, ἐνιπήν Od. 10.448. Of a storm, unusually violent Od. 14.522. 3 In neut. sing. ἔκπαγλον as adv., in striking wise, vehemently, loudly, excessively: ἐπεύξατο Il. 13.413, 445, Il. 14.453, 478, ἀεικιῶ Il. 22.256. Cf. κῆρ

κῆρ τό[app. for κηρ-δ, καρδίη, κραδίη.] Only in nom. and acc. sing. and in dat. sing. κῆρι. (Cf. ἦτορ, θυμός, καρδίη, κραδίη, φρήν.) 1 The heart : ἔνθα φρένες ἔρχαται ἀμφὶ κ.
