μενεαίνω [μένος.] 1 pl. aor. μενεήναμεν Il. 19.58 : Od. 4.282. 1 To be eager, show eagerness or ardour, strive : μάλα περ μενεαίνων Il. 15.617. Cf. Il. 22.10 : Od. 5.341. Of mental struggling : κτεινόμενος μενέαινεν (faced his fate) Il. 16.491. 2 To desire, be eager or anxious, long, strive, be minded, to do something, be set on doing it. With infin. : κατακτάμεναι Il. 3.379, μηδὲ θεοῖς μενεαινέμεν ἶφι μάχεσθαι (let not your spirit carry you away so as to ...) Il. 5.606. Cf.
