Θησεύς (ἐπιείκελος ἀθανάτοισιν, ἐρικυδής). Patronymic Αἰγεΐδης. Son of Aegeus, king of Athens, and husband of Phaedra. The great legendary hero of Athens. Named as a warrior of Nestor's youth Il. 1.265: carried off Ariadne from Crete Od. 11.322; Od. 11.631.
