Μελάμπους (μάντις ἀμύμων). Son of Amythaon and father of Antiphates-3 and Mantius. As the price of the hand of Pero undertook to drive off the oxen of Iphiclus-1 Od. 11.291, but was put in bonds by Ι. 292, his release 294; he drove off the oxen Od. 15.235; while in bonds had been wronged by Neleus Od. 15.230, avenged himself and gave Pero to his brother (who was named Bias) 236, fled to Argos-1 (1) 238, where he married 241.
