Leads one half of the ship's company to Circe's house Od. 10.205, remains when the others enter 232, tells their fate 244, follows Odysseus to the house 447; at the sacrifice on the borders of Oceanus Od. 11.23; with Perimedes-2 binds Odysseus more firmly at the Sirens' island Od. 12.195 ; insists on landing at the island of the oxen of the Sun Od. 12.278; etc.

ἱερήϊον τό [ἱερεύω] 1 An animal for sacrifice Od. 11.23. 2 An animal to be killed as under ἱερεύω. (2): ἑταῖροι δαίνυντʼ αὐτὰρ ἐγὼν ἱερήϊα πολλὰ παρεῖχον Od. 14.250. Cf. Od. 17.600. So doubtless οὐχ ἱ. ἀρνύσθην Il. 22.159 (i.e. as a prize). As object to ἱερεύω. (2): οὔ ποθʼ ἓν ἱρεύσʼ ἱ. Od. 14.94.
